Sam Byers was born in 1979. He is a graduate of the MA and PhD in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia. His writing has appeared in Granta and The New York Times. He regularly reviews books for the Times Literary Supplement. His first novel, Idiopathy, was selected to be one of the Waterstones 11; won a Betty Trask Award; was shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Award, and has been translated into ten languages.
